Ashley Nostalgia, an Old Time Photo and Costume Company, is looking for outgoing, energetic, theatrically â€"minded individuals for immediate openings at our two Texas Renaissance Festival locations, Jester Portraits and Dragon's Lair Olde Tyme Photos, for the entirety of this year's festival run (weekends only October 7 - November 26, plus Friday November 24). Those with positive attitudes who are eager to learn and enjoy people will excel; photography experience is NOT necessary. For both studios, you must be available for all the Saturdays and Sundays during the festival, and we are open from just before cannon (about 9) until after close (around 8:30). There is some flexibility in the times we can assign you, though. We offer a bonus of $0.50/hour for all hours you worked for the season, paid at the end of the festival, if you work all scheduled days. At Jester Portraits, which is at the front gate, we dress employees as court jesters (costume provided) and issue them a camera and a stack of cards. There, you take photos of all guests as they enter the park, hand them a card that they use to view and purchase the photos with, and help steer them to the booth as they're leaving to see and purchase their photos. Jesters start at $13/hour and get a commission as well for each photo sold. For those with some computer savvy and customer service experience, we are also hiring for managerial positions at the front gate, which pays a higher hourly rate, negotiable with your experience. At Ye Olde Tyme Photos, we dress guests in our own period costumes and take their photos on various sets (pirate ship, throne room, dragon, etc). Employees usually work in one section, either helping costume the guests, taking the photos, and proofing/printing/selling the photos. Olde Tyme employees also start at $13/hour, but receive a share of all tips. Routinely, this makes your gross pay more in the range of$17-20 per hour. There is room for advancement. Many of our employees return year after year, so it's a great environment to work in, and we do our best to take good care of our people during the faire! Develops a high level of product knowledge for each product and pricing. Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise. Properly measures each customer with a dressmakers measuring tape. Directs customers by escorting them to racks and counters. Demonstrates and explains merchandise by selecting and suggesting options suitable for the individual customer's needs. Assists customers in trying on merchandise. This includes lacing and adjusting each item to ensure a proper fit, per Casta Diva standards, on all corsets and doublets. This is hands-on work and must be done with consent, professionally, and respectfully. Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge. Processes payments on POS systems, totaling purchases, cash handling, and processing credit and debit cards. Alerts management of potential security issues. Physical requirements include prolonged standing, reaching over the head, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting items to 50lb. Lacing a corset requires hand and arm strength and dexterity. Costume is required. You must provide your own hat and footwear per TRF Participant Handbook guidelines. You must also wear a Casta Diva Corset or Doublet, this will be loaned to you while working if you do not have your own. You may also borrow a shirt, skirt, or pants if needed. However, you may want to purchase the above items as you can NOT, eat, smoke, or vape while wearing borrowed costumes.
